REI Clinics and Events happen monthly at your local REI. These are one hour evening clinics and day fairs for all experience levels. We work to not only speak about our subject, but engage attendees in a mix of hands work and conversation. Check our Online Calendar or visit Portland REI or the Clackamas REI for a schedule of events.
TrackersNW partner events range from and evening clinic on building your own boat to a Summer Camp Fair featuring all your favorite outdoor education camps.
Each clinic and fair is a chance to learn more about...

Connecting Children to Nature
Clackamas REI March 27, 7pm
Portland REI April 9, 7pm
Years ago, nature and the out of doors held a completely different meaning to us. Children constantly played outside. They spent their days catching bugs, finding frogs and eating blackberries. Today our children are losing the natural connections we all cherished. Parents understandably wonder what is safe, why their children focus on the artificial world of video games, and how kids' schedules have become so busy. A child has no time to wander in the woods. TrackersNW, Portland Audubon, and REI want to change this.
Join us as we begin the conversation about how to reconnect our children to the natural world. We will take a real look at the obstacles we face and how traditional environmental and outdoor education holds only some pieces to the puzzle. The full answer lies with healthy collaboration of families and local communities. If you are parent, if you are an educator, if you are an advocate for the natural world, we need you at this night.
AT PORTLAND REI ONLY, Note for parents:
The expert staff of TrackersNW will provide in-store nature-based activities for your child so you can enjoy the conversation. If you are interested in the free child care option, simply contact REI customer service to reserve a space for your child.
